Easy Crochet Face Scrubbies Pattern
Hello 2025! A Fresh Start with Self-Care and Sustainability
The start of a new year feels magical, doesn’t it? It’s a time for fresh starts, decluttering, and setting intentions.
With our house renovations finally wrapping up (fingers crossed!), I’m excited to reclaim my crochet corner and rediscover my yarn stash—it’ll feel like Christmas all over again!
As I get organized, self-care is top of mind, and this Face Scrubby Crochet Pattern feels like the perfect way to prioritize it.
These quick, simple scrubbies are a treat for yourself and a step toward sustainability—no more disposable wipes!
Let’s start the year with a small, meaningful project that blends creativity, mindfulness, and eco-consciousness.

Alternative Yarn Options for Crochet Face Scrubbies
When making face scrubbies, the yarn you choose plays a big role in how soft, durable, and effective they’ll be. While cotton yarn is a classic choice, there are other fibres that can work beautifully for this project. Here are some alternatives to consider:
1. Cotton-Bamboo Blends
Cotton-bamboo yarn is an excellent choice for face scrubbies because it combines the durability of cotton with the silky softness of bamboo. Bamboo fibers are naturally antibacterial, making them perfect for skincare items. Plus, the blend tends to have a smooth finish that feels luxurious against your skin.
Recommendation: Look for cotton-bamboo blends with a tight twist to minimize splitting while crocheting. Brands like → Lion Brand Truboo or similar eco-friendly yarns are a great place to start.
2. Organic Cotton Yarns
If you’re sticking with cotton but want something extra special, go for organic cotton. These yarns are chemical-free and gentle on sensitive skin. Many organic options also have a tighter twist, making them easier to crochet and less prone to splitting.
Recommendation: Try → About Strings Organic Cotton or any GOTS-certified organic yarn for the softest and most eco-conscious scrubbies.
3. Linen or Hemp Blends
For a lightly exfoliating effect, consider linen or hemp yarn blends. These fibres are naturally durable and get softer with use, making them ideal for scrubbies that can gently polish your skin. Keep in mind, however, that linen and hemp blends may feel slightly rougher at first compared to cotton or bamboo.
Recommendation: Look for yarns like → Hemp for Knitting AllHemp6 or similar cotton-hemp blends for a balance of softness and exfoliation.
4. Recycled Yarns
Recycled cotton or blended yarns are another eco-friendly option. These yarns are made from textile waste, which reduces environmental impact while still delivering softness and quality. They’re perfect for sustainability-minded crafters.
Recommendation: Explore brands like→ Knit Picks Dishie Recycled Cotton for a sustainable option that works great for scrubbies.
Fibers to Avoid
While there are many great options, some yarns don’t work well for face scrubbies:
Acrylic Yarn: It’s not absorbent and can feel harsh on the skin, making it unsuitable for a skincare item.
Wool or Wool Blends: These fibres may irritate sensitive skin and aren’t as easy to wash and dry as cotton-based yarns.
No matter which yarn you choose, opt for something soft, durable, and easy to clean. Your handmade scrubbies will become a luxurious addition to your skincare routine, and they’re perfect for gifting, too!
Tension
Tension is not important for this project.
Hook
I used a 5.mm hook for this pattern. However, check your yarn for hook size recommendations.
Sizing
Approximately 7cm/ 2.75′′ in diameter. You can easily adjust the size of your scrubby by adding or removing rounds while continuing to follow the pattern.
Notes
This pattern is worked in the rounds and uses US terminology.

How to Wash Your Face Scrubbies
To keep your scrubbies fresh and ready for use:
Place them in a mesh laundry bag or a lingerie bag to protect them during washing.
